Hi, thank you for the discussion and posting of my clarifications.

1. i would like to invite you to definately try out with a "packed" inventory, and with a noobie inventory, to visit several places and experience the lag difference yourself.

2. i will repeat it once more: there is no service attached to the inventorybutler other than that you receive free updates, and what it does (with his lsl scripts).
the items remain completely on the linden labs servers.
it is no third party server or service involved in any ways after you purchased the inventorybutler. of course i offer help if someone has questions, but that is about it.
what the butler really does for people is this:
you can drop your items into a box (maybe use the prepared categories that come with the system).
then you can browse, search, receive, or even delete items easily and instantly with the help of the inventorybutler script which is completely written in the SL internal script language and does not communicate with anyone or anything but its owner.
i hope that helps to understand it a bit better :-)

Did being silent for 3 days have an Impact or not? I will leave that up to you to decide. However, LL clarified the trademark policy today on the third and last day of the protest. look here http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/04/18/more-on-trademarks/

Oh, I'm with you on 99% of all this.

My point is simply that Linden lab seems to be in somewhat of a catch-22 in some of it. Now, something like the Intellectual Property policies, (registration marks, et alii,) I can understand that information what likely held until it was totally vetted and thumbs-upped by the legal eagles.

The land price drop on the other hand *cocks head sideways a bit* - Yes, that most certainly could have been handled better.

In short, it's their openness all this time that has given expectation of openness. So, do we have a right to it? Do we deserve it? If even the previous two are "no" - is it right to flip-flop and not maintain consistency in whatever level of openness there is?

Ah-hah!

Only had time to scan this, but I agree with you. We shouldn't have to add the mark to initials; only the full name in any of its forms. But I guess it's less work for them to protect themselves now and deal with some angry customers than later, when they have to go full-frontal into a lawsuit with someone abusing the system.

They still went balls-to-the-wall at the expense of their loyal users. It's a painful situation all around.

Well, that's good to hear. I was feeling bad for the players if they were going to go with those votes. They should have stayed with Simoleans from the beginning and avoided the extra work of inducing voting.

no, the currency is not names FunBucks .. it is still Simoleans. FunBucks was a player suggestion where many people voted for it, however, since many complains were issued against this whole new names for the currency .. the voting has been canceled.

I agree with a lot of what you say, I touched upon how approachable Linden Lab are compared to nearly any other business I am a stakeholder with, and they do stand up to scrutiny. They produce some very "warts and all" statistics that many other companies would bury or put spin on.

You're also right about policy decisions, they aren't made overnight, they are announced that way and that's where I think Linden Lab need to grow up. The trademark issue is one that really should have been discussed and debated long before it was announced. Catherine used to do office hours, I have a lot of respect for Catherine, she's extremely articulate and very witty, I'm sure she could have explained this in a cool calm manner given the right platform.
